London Bakery Wins Double Great Taste Honour
Italian-inspired bakery Bombolone Doughnuts has added two accolades to its growing list of achievements after being recognised at the Great Taste Awards 2026.
The London café received a 2-Star Great Taste Award for its Vanilla Bombolone, while its Pistachio Tiramisu was awarded 1 Star, reflecting the judges’ praise for the quality and craftsmanship behind both products.
The panel described the Vanilla Bombolone as a standout entry, applauding its light, pillowy brioche dough, smooth vanilla custard and balanced sweetness. Judges noted the doughnut’s generous size and attractive appearance, adding that the flavours worked together to create an enjoyable eating experience without overwhelming the palate.
The bakery’s Pistachio Tiramisu also impressed the judging panel, which praised its elegant presentation and carefully layered combination of espresso, mascarpone and pistachio. The dessert was recognised for delivering rich flavours while maintaining balance and refinement.
Bombolone Doughnuts was established in 2025 after founders Sonia Pash and Paweł drew inspiration from authentic bomboloni enjoyed during a visit to Tuscany. Determined to recreate the traditional Italian treat in London, the pair spent months refining their recipes before opening the bakery.
Each morning, the bakery produces fresh bomboloni using slow-proved Italian brioche dough before hand-filling them with a variety of creams and fillings made from carefully selected ingredients, including real vanilla pods, Italian mascarpone and premium pistachio cream.
The menu now features a selection of Italian-inspired flavours, including Pistachio Amore, Mama Mia Tiramisu, Crème Brûlée, Dolce Cheesecake and Vanillissimo. Since launching, Bombolone Doughnuts has gained a loyal customer base and attracted attention from food critics and travel publications.
Speaking after the announcement, co-founder Sonia Pash said the awards recognised the team’s dedication to traditional techniques, quality ingredients and creating authentic Italian-inspired desserts for London customers.
