Transforming Independent Coffee Culture: Kuppso Coffee Club Launches in Coventry
Affordable Sustainability for Coffee Enthusiasts
Kuppso Coffee Club redefines coffee culture with an app that bolsters local cafés, offers affordable drinks, promotes sustainability, and supports community connections by showcasing hidden coffee gems.
Entrepreneurial duo Rob Oakley and Alex Baker, from Leamington, are making waves with the latest expansion of their disruptive subscription app, Kuppso Coffee Club, which aims to bolster independent coffee culture and energize local economies. Coventry is the newest city to host the inventive platform, a project rooted in the pair’s shared passion for community and supporting small businesses.
Kuppso Coffee Club is designed to draw coffee enthusiasts away from mainstream giants like Costa and Starbucks, encouraging them to savor the charm and flavors of local independent cafes. Through the app, users can subscribe or purchase coffee packs, gaining access to quality hot drinks from a growing roster of independent partner venues. With subscription options for four, eight, or 12 coffees per month, app members are treated to premium coffee at an affordable price—from as little as £2.50 per cup.
Kuppso Coffee Club is an innovative, affordable, and sustainable way to enjoy high-quality coffee while supporting small independent cafés.
The growing list of Coventry partners already includes a diverse mix of establishments, such as Shortland Coffee Co (Warwick Row), Baxter Baristas at Herbert Art Museum (Jordan Well), Baxter Baristas at The Transport Museum (Hales Street), Kitchen at the Courtyard (Jordan Well), Gorety Portuguese Café (Canal Basin), and Myrtles Coffee Shop (Albany Road), with new names being added weekly. These venues join 16 partners already thriving under the Kuppso banner in Leamington and Warwick.
Embracing Coventry’s Cultural Energy
Commenting on the expansion, Rob Oakley said, “Coventry has so many amazing independent coffee shops and cafes, but the city is also heavily dominated by big coffee chains. Many people we’ve spoken to mentioned that they prefer the taste and vibe of independents, but often revert to chains out of convenience or habit. Our app bridges that gap by making it easier for people to discover these gems, rewarding them for supporting local businesses.”
He added, “Coventry’s cultural dynamism and appetite for creative, independent experiences align perfectly with what Kuppso stands for. It’s a win-win for everyone in the community; customers enjoy high-quality, affordable coffee while driving visibility and revenue toward fantastic local businesses.”
Coffee with a Purpose
Since its initial launch, Kuppso has been warmly received, attracting over 1,800 users in Leamington and Warwick within its debut year. The app appeals not just with its cost savings but also with its sustainability-driven ethos. Every new subscriber is treated to a free coffee and a complimentary reusable cup, valued at £25. This initiative underscores the commitment of Oakley and Baker to reducing disposable waste while supporting their partner venues.
Supporting Workforce Wellbeing
Kuppso is also gaining momentum as a unique employee perk, with many local employers adopting the app to benefit their teams while championing local cafés. Oakley explained, “Employers love Kuppso because it rewards their staff with a reason to step away from their desks and take a meaningful break—while simultaneously directing business to independent coffee shops. It’s a real win-win situation.”
Looking to the Future
The creators’ vision for Kuppso doesn’t end with Coventry. Plans are already underway to extend the app’s reach to nearby regions, including Stratford and Rugby, before expanding throughout the UK. With an increasing number of coffee shops eager to partner and a growing customer base, Kuppso is gearing up to reshape the way the nation engages with independent cafés.
With its innovative approach to combining affordability, sustainability, and community, Kuppso Coffee Club offers much more than coffee—it’s fostering a culture. Whether you’re a coffee lover, small business supporter, or sustainability enthusiast, this app is one to watch as it continues steaming ahead.
For Coventry’s coffee scene, it looks like the future is brewed locally!
