Peters’ Cleaners Pioneers 24/7 Dry Cleaning with Nationwide Locker Service in Partnership with InPost
Vicky Whiter, CEO of Peters’ Cleaners, leads innovation by launching the UK’s first nationwide dry-cleaning partnership using InPost’s 24/7 locker network.
24/7 Locker-Based Dry Cleaning Service Sets New Industry Benchmark Across the UK
Peters’ Cleaners partners with InPost to offer a game-changing locker-based service. This 24/7 solution modernises dry cleaning, addressing demand for flexibility, high street challenges, and staffing shortages across the United Kingdom.
Peters’ Cleaners, a family-run dry cleaning business established in Peterborough in 1963, has launched an innovative nationwide service in collaboration with InPost, enabling customers to drop off and collect their dry cleaning around the clock via InPost’s extensive Locker network.
This groundbreaking initiative, spearheaded by local entrepreneur and Peters’ Cleaners CEO Vicky Whiter, combines the company’s trusted reputation (currently boasting a stellar 4.8 rating on Trustpilot) with InPost’s convenient Locker system. The partnership offers customers the ultimate flexibility, allowing them to book specialist dry cleaning services online, then drop off and retrieve their garments at their nearest Locker location without being restricted by opening hours.
Speaking on the partnership, Peter Blackburn, International Commercial Director at InPost, said: “This partnership demonstrates how InPost Lockers can go beyond traditional parcel delivery. By pairing our extensive nationwide network with experts like Peters’ Cleaners, we are helping businesses adapt to changing consumer needs by offering services that fit seamlessly into modern lifestyles.”
With a network of 13,000 lockers available 24/7, the service is designed for convenience, catering to time-poor households and addressing the challenges faced by the dry-cleaning sector. Industry trends reveal a growing demand for flexible, out-of-hours services in response to busier routines and evolving consumer expectations.
According to Vicky Whiter, “We’re the first dry cleaner to establish a nationwide locker-based service with InPost. This partnership blends InPost’s ‘out-of-home’ Locker network with our expertise in specialist garment care. It’s a project we’ve been perfecting for over a year to ensure every garment is handled responsibly, cleaned to our exacting standards, and promptly returned to customers.”
The service is well-positioned to meet growing consumer demand, with InPost statistics showing that approximately 75% of people in the UK’s three largest cities live within a seven-minute walk of an InPost Locker.
The dry-cleaning industry has faced challenges in recent years, including declining foot traffic on traditional high streets and staffing shortages. Market analysts at IBISWorld noted a 2.3% annual decline in the UK Dry-Cleaning & Other Cleaning Services market between 2019 and 2024, while PwC reported nearly 7,000 shop closures across Great Britain in the first half of 2024 alone. Additionally, the British Cleaning Council has highlighted labor shortages and an ageing workforce as contributing factors complicating operations for smaller dry-cleaners.
In response to these pressures, Vicky Whiter sees innovation as the key to survival. “We’ve had to adapt and rethink the traditional dry-cleaning model. There’s still a need for specialist cleaning services, but consumers demand flexibility and convenience. Our partnership with InPost marks a turning point for the industry, empowering customers with control and accessibility.”
As Peters’ Cleaners leads the charge in modernizing a decades-old industry, Whiter concludes, “Our goal is simple: deliver high-quality service at times that suit modern life, without compromising on the care and attention each garment deserves.”
The partnership between Peters’ Cleaners and InPost represents a significant shift for the dry-cleaning market, combining innovation with customer-first solutions that aim to redefine industry standards nationwide.
